No. 11 Pack Rifle Concludes Fall Season at No. 5 West Virginia

RALEIGH – The No. 11 NC State rifle team is set to travel this weekend to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face No. 5 West Virginia at the WVU Rifle Range.
Friday's match against the Mountaineers will be shot in two relays throughout the day. The first relay will begin at 8:30 a.m., while the second relay will follow at 12:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack split its past two matches after falling to No. 10 Navy (4,703-4,693) but claimed a record-setting win against No. 19 Citadel (4,695-4,448), marking the second win for the Pack of the 2022-23 season.
NC State set a program record in both smallbore and aggregate scoring against The Citadel, posting a new team aggregate best with a tally of 4,695 and a new smallbore record with a score of 2,331. Both Ben Salas (1,188) and Katie Tedeschi (1,179) set personal records across the board in the victory, setting PRs in smallbore, air rifle and individual aggregate.
In the tight setback to No. 10 Navy, the Pack finished with the second-highest aggregate score in program history with a score of 4,693. NC State tallied a 2,327 in smallbore, falling just four points short of Friday's program-record tally of 2,331 against The Citadel. The Pack also impressed in air rifle, tying the third-best mark in program history with a final score of 2,366.
Salas paces the Pack with a smallbore average of 585.3, while Tedeschi leads NC State with an air rifle average of 590.2. Salas' aggregate average of 1,175.3 also ranks first on the team.
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA
The No. 5 Mountaineers are coming off a win against Army (4,725-4,649), leading West Virginia to its ninth overall victory and fourth GARC win. WVU ranks No. 4 nationally in aggregate average (4720.3). Additionally, the Mountaineers are No. 3 in the nation in air rifle average (2380.2) and are No. 4 in smallbore average (2340.2).
Senior Mary Tucker continues to lead the squad in aggregate average (1187.3), smallbore average (590) and air rifle average (597.3). The Sarasota, Florida, native is No. 2 nationally in aggregate average, No. 3 in air rifle average and No. 7 in smallbore average.
