RALEIGH – NC State Athletics, in collaboration with Ewing Cole, has announced a $15 million enhancement plan for Doak Field at Dail Park, home of the Wolfpack baseball team.
The plan aims to celebrate the school's historic baseball program with facility upgrades that better support its competitive future while dramatically enhancing the spectator experience. It has been separated into phases to strategically meet program and budgetary priorities - field improvements, player performance facilities and game day/fan experience enhancements.
The first phase will begin following the 2022 season.
The Wolfpack Club has initiated a significant fundraising effort with early statements of intent from a dedicated group of donors to provide the necessary leadership to get this much needed project off the ground. The early fundraising progress is reflective of the momentum within the NC State baseball program, but this project will need significant additional support from Wolfpack Nation to reach its ultimate potential and new donors will continue to be identified and welcomed. Should fundraising exceed the $15 million mark, additional phases will be added to this project.
"NC State Baseball has achieved at a very high level for many years," said Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "We need to continue to build on that traditional success that will ensure the future of this program. It is situated in a great location and has been a part of our campus experience for generations. We envision upgrades that will put Doak Field at Dail Park among the premier facilities in college baseball and we are excited to begin this process."
NC State's baseball program has been one of the school's most consistent and successful programs, having made 32 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five NCAA Super Regionals and three College World Series berths.
With the phased strategy, the enhancement plan will look to provide performance facilities for NC State players that will help them compete for and win championships while creating an innovative space that offers exceptional fan experience and is unique to NC State's loyal supporters.
"This is an important project as our program continues to have significant momentum," added head coach Elliott Avent. "We have an ideal location, have long had tremendous support and this renovation will benefit future generations of players as well as improve the experience for our fans."
Doak Field at Dail Park opened in 1966 and has served as one of the toughest environments for opponents to visit for more than half a century. It is an intimate on-campus venue and has been home to a long list of All-Americans and Major League Baseball players. With incredible program momentum following its most recent College World Series appearance, and no significant facility upgrades since 2003, the time is now to secure and celebrate the future of Doak Field at Dail Park.
The future of the venue will address several areas of critical need:
Competitive Team Performance Spaces
-Locker room
-Team lounge, nutrition and sports medicine
-Weight room
-Batting facility
-Pitching lab
Facility Improvements
-New playing surface
-LED lighting
-Scoreboard and sound system upgrade
-Relocated bullpens
-Branding opportunities
Fan Experience Upgrades
-Seating variety and quality
-Premium and entertainment space
-Concession upgrades
-New shaded area
