Gymnastics Posts 195.250 Behind Season-High Floor Score

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team recorded a 195.250 on Saturday, placing second in a quad meet against New Hampshire, George Washington and William & Mary.
New Hampshire earned a 195.400 for the highest overall score at the meet. George Washington placed third with a 194.675, and William & Mary charted a 190.650 to finish fourth.
The Wolfpack recorded its highest team score of the season on vault with a 48.975. Alexis Ortega earned the highest score for the squad on the event with her career-high 9.825. Hailey Merchant competed on the event for the first time in her Wolfpack career, posting a 9.800. Shruthi Anand continued a strong season on the event as well, tabbing a 9.800 to tie her career best.
On bars, Carina Jordan secured the individual title with a 9.850. Merchant and Emily Shepard each posted a 9.750, contributing to the NC State total of 48.300.
Beam saw the team post a 48.700, led by Shepard's 9.875. Her score earned her a second-place finish on the apparatus.
On floor, all six competitors earned at least a 9.800. Shepard led the way with an individual title-winning 9.900 and was followed by Jordan's 9.875 (second place) and Lauren Rutherford's 9.850 (third place).
Gabrielle Diaz increased her career high to 9.825 in the event, and Madison Benson earned the same score. Webb rounded out the group with a 9.800.
