
Gymnastics Posts 194.550 at Pitt Quad Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The NC State gymnastics team recorded a 194.550 in a quad meet at Pitt on Saturday, placing third in the team competition.
West Virginia placed first with a 195.925, Pitt finished second with a 195.800 and Alaska - Anchorage tabbed fourth with a 191.250.
Vault saw the Wolfpack earn a 48.875, led by freshman Lauren Rutherford's career-best 9.825. Her score made her part of a four-way tie for the individual title on the event. Gabrielle Diaz led off strong for the squad with a 9.800.
On bars, NC State posted a 47.675 as a team. Junior Emily Shepard led the way for the bars crew with a 9.875 to tie her season best and tie for the individual crown, and anchor Meredith Robinson closed the rotation out with a 9.800.
The Wolfpack made a strong showing on beam, tabbing a team score of 49.175. Macy Jennings upped her career best on the apparatus, scoring a 9.875 to tie for third with teammate Nicole Webb. Webb's 9.875 tied her career best in the event. It was Shepard who led the Pack in beam scores as the Olathe, Kan., native earned her first beam 9.900 of the year and placed second.
Gabrielle Diaz led off on floor, tying her career best of 9.825. Shepard concluded a strong afternoon of the competition with the highest score on the team on the apparatus, posting a 9.875. Her mark additionally earned her a spot in a tie for second.
