Pack to Open Season at Rutgers Quad Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics program is set to open its 2022 season Saturday, Jan. 15 at a 1 p.m. quad meet at Rutgers with North Carolina and New Hampshire.Â

SCOUTING RUTGERS
The Scarlet Knights opened their season at Florida with Northern Illinois and Texas Woman's, posting a 192.075 to place fourth. The highest event score for Rutgers came on vault with a 48.825, and Sophomore Emily Leese charted a podium finish with a 9.825 (3rd place) on the event.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina recorded its highest-ever season-opening score on Jan. 7, earning a 195.700. The Tar Heels placed second in the tri-meet with Auburn and Bowling Green and was the highest-scoring squad on bars of the three teams competing. Freshman Lali Dekanoidze was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 12 after a 39.325 all-around performance.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
Scoring a 192.250 in their season opener, the Wildcats fell to East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent Towson in a dual meet. The Wildcats outscored Towson on vault (48.250) and beam (48.475). Members of the New Hampshire team garnered individual titles on vault, beam and in the all-around.
2021 SEASON REWIND
NC State recorded a historic 2021 campaign, achieving an NCAA Regional Championships berth for third-straight year in which Regionals have been held. The Wolfpack reached the Regional Final for the first time in program history and became the first program in NCAA history to reach the Final after opening Regionals competition on day one, a format that began in the 2018 season.
The Wolfpack posted its highest score of the season, a 196.900, in a dual meet against new EAGL member LIU. The mark tied the third-highest in program history.
Emily Shepard garnered EAGL Gymnast of the Year and WCGA Region 5 Gymnast of the Year accolades in recognition of a stellar sophomore campaign. Shepard was the fourth NC State gymnast to be earn the EAGL recognition and the second to garner the regional award.

NC State hosts Towson for its home opener Saturday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. Fans are permitted to attend home meets and are required to wear masks.
