RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (4-3-1, 0-1-0 ACC) returns home Thursday when it welcomes No. 16 Clemson to Dail Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Raleigh, and the match will be broadcast on ACCNX.
FREE ADMISSION
Beginning in 2021, NC State women's soccer games are free of charge. Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each match. As NC State works toward a more normal on-campus experience, NC State Athletics will continue abiding by the current policies for campus as outlined in the University Community Standards.
#PACKUNITED
Thursday's match at Dail Soccer Stadium is a part of #PackUnited week. The organization will be holding a school supply drive to benefit local elementary schools.
THREE-GAME HOME STAND
Thursday is the start of a three-game home stand for the Wolfpack at Dail Soccer Stadium, as it will host No. 5 Virginia Sunday, September 26 at 1 p.m. and No. 22 Notre Dame Friday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pack dropped a hard-fought battle with Virginia Tech on Saturday evening in its ACC opener as it fell, 1-0, at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va.
The teams battled to the final minute and provided plenty of scoring opportunities, as the squads tallied 10 shots apiece (three on target), but the Hokies, who were receiving votes for last week's United Soccer Coaches national poll, managed to come away with the three points thanks to a second-half goal.
The Pack outshot the Hokies, 8-4, in the second half, and controlled possession for 54 percent of the contest. Denae Antoine, Leyah Hall-Robinson and Jameese Joseph were responsible for nine of the team's 10 shots, as they tallied three apiece.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the 30th meeting between NC State and Clemson, as the Tigers own an 18-7-4 advantage in the all-time series.
The last time the teams met was on October 19, 2017, in Raleigh, and the Pack earned a 1-0 victory off Kia Rankin's goal in the 31st minute.
NC State has won three of the last five contests with Clemson in Raleigh.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Clemson is coming off four consecutive wins, including a 2-1 victory over then-No. 12 South Carolina and 2-0 result over then-No. 19 Pittsburgh in its last time out.
The Tigers were picked to finish fifth in the ACC Coaches Preseason Poll after finishing fourth in the 2020 league standings, while goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff and midfielder Megan Bornkamp were tabbed Preseason All-ACC.
