GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy has been named ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The honor is the first of Tuohy's career.
Tuohy competed in the first regular-season race of her career on Sept. 17 at the adidas XC Challenge, clocking a 16:29.6 in the 5K race. The Stony Point, N.Y., native took home her first individual title as she led the NC State women to an impressive first-place finish.
Members of the Wolfpack took the top six spots at the meet, scoring 15 points to take the team title. Tuohy was out in front not only at the finish but throughout the race. She placed ahead of Kelsey Chmiel and Hannah Steelman in the final standings at the adidas XC Challenge, runners who were both top-10 finishers at the 2020 NCAA Championships. Chmiel and Steelman finished in second and fifth place at the adidas XC Challenge, respectively.
