GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team (2-1-2) picked up a dominant 3-0 win over UNCG (1-2-2) on Thursday evening at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. It was the Wolfpack's first shutout win of the season and the most goals scored this year in a single match.
The squad put together a complete performance on the field, as eight of its 12 shots were on goal and it did not allow the Spartans to have a scoring opportunity throughout the 90 minutes.
Annika Wohner put the Pack on the board in the third minute when she tapped in her second career goal from just above the penalty box, as Fernanda Soto and Toni Starova were credited with the double assist. It was the second goal of her career, as she tallied her first one exactly one week ago.
Brianna Weber doubled the team's lead in the 39th minute when she capitalized on the rebound off of Jenna Butler's header attempt following a free kick by Cara Elmendorf, marking her first career tally.
Jameese Joseph opened the second half with her fourth goal in five matches in the 54th minute as she finished to the near post from inside the 18-yard box.
The Pack returns home Sunday when it hosts Elon at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium, and the match will be broadcast on ACCNX.
