RALEIGH - The NC State cross country programs have released their schedules for the 2021 season, as announced by head coaches Rollie Geiger and Laurie Henes on Wednesday.
The Wolfpack opens its schedule with its lone home meet of the 2021 year, hosting the adidas XC Challenge Friday, Sept. 17 at the WakeMed Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C.
The first weekend in October sees NC State compete in a pair of meets. Part of the team will make the trip to South Bend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Invite Friday, Oct. 1 while another group will compete at the Great American XC Festival Saturday, Oct. 2 in Cary, N.C.
Friday, Oct. 15 the squad splits up again as it heads to the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisc., and the ECU Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C. The meets will mark the final regular-season competitions for the Wolfpack.
The 2021 ACC Cross Country Championships are set to be hosted by Notre Dame Friday, Oct. 29 in South Bend, Ind. Postseason competition continues Friday, Nov. 12 at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Lexington, Ky.
The top two teams from the regional meet will receive automatic bids for the NCAA Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla.
NC State tabbed a pair of top-25 finishes at the 2020 NCAA Championships, including a second-place finish by the Wolfpack women. The placement tied the program-best NCAA finish and was the best final ranking in 20 years. The men's squad finished 23rd, improving on its 26th-place finish in 2019.
