Shanklin Advances to 5000m Final at USATF Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. - Several current and former members of the NC State track & field programs competed at the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials on Thursday and Friday, advancing to the next rounds in their respective events.
Graham Crawford ('16) was the first to compete Thursday, running in the 1500m first round. With a time of 3:40.68 in the 1500m, the eighth-best in his heat with the 16th-best overall, he advanced to Friday's semifinal round. In the semifinals he posted a 3:54.40, placing 24th overall with the 12th-fastest mark in his heat.
Ian Shanklin impressed in the men's 5000m semifinal, posting a 13:42.99 to take 10th in his heat. His time was good for the 10th-fastest overall.
Joining Shanklin in the 5000m was program alumnus Ryan Hill ('13). Hill recorded a time of of 14:12.20 that placed him 23rd overall and 11th in his heat.

Elly Henes and Erika Kemp ('18) are set to participate in the women's 10000m final Saturday, June 26 at 1 p.m.
