The Wolfpack finishes third overall in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a .576 win percentage, and locked up the No. 3 seed in next week's ACC Championship. The squad finished with six ACC series wins, including four over ranked opponents, and earned four series sweeps in the regular season.
FSU struck first for the second straight game when Matheu Nelson launched a two-run home run over the left field tall in the first, but the Pack cut into its deficit when Tyler McDonough roped a one-out double to right field and then scored on Jonny Butler's single to shallow right center in the bottom frame.
Jackson Greene extended FSU's lead to 5-1 in the fourth when he belted a three-run homer to left field, but NC State battled back in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of runs on three consecutive hits by Jose Torres, Devonte Brown and Vojtech Mensik to make it 5-3.
The Pack took its first lead of the game in the fifth, plating three runs on as many hits. McDonough led off the side with his second double of the game, and after an error put him at third he scored on Luca Tresh's sac fly to right field. Terrell Tatum and Jose Torres then went yard in back-to-back at-bats to give NC State a 6-5 advantage.
In the sixth, Florida State managed to load the bases on two outs via a hit and two walks, and then a single by Logan Lacey to center field and Wolfpack error cleared the bases. NC State responded in its half of the inning with five runs to take an 11-8 lead thanks two Butler's two-run double to right center, Tatum's second home run in as many at-bats and a J.T. Jarrett bases-loaded walk.
The Seminoles made it a one-run game in the seventh when Robby Martin hit a leadoff homer and Greene walked in a run, and then tied it up in the eighth on Nelson's leadoff home run. In the ninth FSU plated four runs on three hits to make it 15-11, and the Pack was unable to answer late to ultimately suffer the loss.
