Twenty-Four from Wolfpack Qualify to NCAA East Regional Meet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Twenty-four members of the NC State track & field program have qualified to compete at the 2021 NCAA East Preliminary Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday.
Seven members of the Wolfpack declared to compete in two events: Chris Alexander, Joshua Brockman, Cravont Charleston, Kelsey Chmiel, Dominique Clairmonte, Hannah Steelman and Katelyn Tuohy.
SPRINTS
Eight NC State sprinters will head to Jacksonville, Fla., for Regional action. Brockman and Cameron Murray are set to compete in the men's 110m hurdles.
Charleston will see competition in the men's 100m.
Akira Rhodes rounds out the individual sprinting event participants as she tabbed a berth in the women's 100m hurdles.
Alan Alvarez, Junpai Dowdy, Von Douglas, Henry Young, Brockman and Charleston make up the Wolfpack's qualifying men's 4x100m relay squad.
JUMPS
Three Wolfpack jumpers qualified for regional action. Chris Alexander will continue his successful season by competing in the men's triple jump.
On the women's side, Michelle Cobb will represent the Wolfpack in the triple jump.
Alexander and Douglas will each vie for a spot at the 2021 NCAA Championships in the men's long jump.
DISTANCE
A squad of fourteen distance competitors will make the trip to the regional meet.
Joe Bistritz and Ian Shanklin are slotted to compete in the men's 5000m while on the women's side Chmiel, Clairmonte, Elly Henes, Savannah Shaw, Steelman and Tuohy will compete in the 5000m.
Chmiel and Clairmonte are additionally set to compete in the women's 10000m alongside Mariah Howlett and Gionna Quarzo. JP Flavin will represent NC State in the men's 10000m.
Sarah LaTour and Steelman posted times in 2021 to qualify them for competition in the women's 3000m steeplechase.
Nevada Mareno, Tuohy and Anna Vess will compete in the women's 1500m to round out NC State's entries.
