#12 Wolfpack Falls to #1 Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 12 NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 1 North Carolina in a ranked ACC matchup on Saturday afternoon, as the Tar Heels came away with the 6-1 win.
The decision snapped a seven-match winning streak for the Wolfpack, which is now 14-4 on the season and 8-3 in conference play. NC State had not lost a match since March 7.
Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki won their ninth-straight doubles match together, improving to 9-1 in dual match play as a duo. They defeated UNC's Alexa Graham and Anika Yarlagadda on court three, but the Tar Heels won the matches on courts one and two to clinch the opening point.
Alana Smith added a point for the Pack in singles action, with her 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over No. 19 Cameron Morra checking in as her highest ranked win of the season.
NC State will play its final pair of regular-season matches at home as it welcomes Virginia Tech (Friday, April 9) and Virginia (Sunday, April 11) to Raleigh. The Wolfpack will honor its seniors in a pre-match ceremony prior to Friday's contest against the Hokies.
