Volleyball Win Streak Snapped Against #14 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, IND. – The NC State Volleyball team's five-match win streak was snapped with a tough challenge against #14 Notre Dame, Friday evening in South Bend, Ind. The Irish came away with the 3-0 win.
Melissa Evans led the Wolfpack with nine kills, while Lydia Adam had eight and Kristen McDaniel had 21 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Notre Dame controlled the first set, handling the ball with a .556 hitting percentage. The Wolfpack fought back to keep it even in the opening points of the second set. A 4-0 run, led by a pair of blocks from Mmachi Nwoke and Melissa Evans gave NC State an 11-9 lead. Notre Dame would answer, however, with five unanswered points and a 14-11 lead. NC State would pull within three, 22-19, after back-to-back hitting errors by the Fighting Irish, however Notre Dame would fire away three-straight points to take the 2-0 match lead.
Despite going down 18-9 in the third set, NC State fought all the way back within five in part due to the offense from Evans and Taylor Rowland. Notre Dame would outscore the Wolfpack 7-4 down the stretch to win their fourth-straight match.

- NC State entered Friday's match holding opponents to a .161 hitting percentage, the third best in the ACC, while Notre Dame had held opponents to .173.
