RALEIGH – Junior midfielder Aidan Foster's first goal of the season came at an opportune time as he put away a golden goal to secure NC State men's soccer's 2-1 overtime victory against Syracuse.
Playing at WRAL Soccer Park in Raleigh, the Wolfpack picked up its first conference win of the season and moved to 3-8-2 overall with two matches remaining in its regular-season slate.
The Orange got on the board early with Deandre Kerr's goal in the second minute, but NC State held Syracuse scoreless for the remainder of the outing and notched the final two goals of the match.
Pablo Pedregosa netted the equalizer in the 15th minute for what was also his first goal of the season. After a scoreless second half, Foster tucked a ball away with his left foot in the 94th minute to clinch the victory.
Despite Syracuse's 12-6 advantage in shots, NC State managed three shots on target to the Orange's two. The game was the Pack's fourth overtime match of the season and the first from which it has come away with the victory after a previous loss and two draws.
NC State returns home on Saturday, April 3 to host in-state rival Duke.
