Wolfpack Comes Up Just Short to No. 1 Tigers, Falling 1-0

CLEMSON, S.C. – NC State men's soccer (2-8-2) remained neck and neck with top-ranked Clemson (10-2-1) for the majority of Saturday night's outing before the Tigers scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to come away with the victory.
Both of the Pack's games against top-five Tiger squads this season have been decided by a 1-0 score.
Despite getting out-shot 13-5, NC State managed to limit Clemson's two attempts on target to the final few minutes of the match. The Tigers drew two penalty kicks in the final 11 minutes. Callum Johnson's was saved by goalkeeper Leon Krapf in the 80th minute, but Hamady Diop converted on his in the 86th minute to secure the win for Clemson.
The Pack's best scoring look of the game came in the 60th minute, when Kuda Muskwe got a head on a corner kick that Clemson keeper George Marks managed to deflect just in time. Aidan Foster then made another attempt on that rebound that went off the crossbar.
NC State returns home March 26 for a match against Syracuse. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Raleigh.
