RALEIGH, N.C. – With nine of its 10 starters qualified for next weekend's NCAA Championships, Wolfpack Wrestling received six top-10 seeds and a pair are seeded second in their weight class.
Â
The 2021 NCAA Championships will take place March 18-20 in St. Louis.
Â
This year marks only the second time in school history NC State had a pair of No. 2 seeds or better. Back in 2016, seniors Nick Gwiazdowksi was No. 1 at 285 pounds and Tommy Gantt was No. 2 at 157 pounds.
Â
• R-Sr. Hayden Hidlay - #2 seed at 157 pounds
Hidlay's quest to become NC State's first-ever four-time All-American has him starting as the No. 2 seed. He won his fourth ACC title last time out, just the 10th all-time in the ACC to do so, and enters the NCAAs with an ACC-best 25 match winning streak (9-0 this year). Hidlay was the No. 1 seed in 2018 (finished second) and No. 5 seed in 2019 (finished fourth).
Â
• R-So. Trent Hidlay - #2 seed at 184 pounds
Entering his first trip to the NCAA Championships, Hidlay will be the No. 2 seed at 184 pounds. After missing the first two weeks of the season after an appendectomy, Hidlay went 6-1 on the season, with four ranked wins. In the ACC finals, he took out No. 1 Bolen of Virginia Tech, 3-1, to win his first ACC Championship.
Â
• R-Sr. Tariq Wilson - #4 seed at 141 pounds
Coming off his first career ACC Championship, Wilson will enter as the No. 4 seed at 141 pounds. It will be his third career trip to the NCAAs, he went from unseeded to third overall as a R-Fr. in 2018 and was one win away from All-American honors in 2019. Wilson is 9-0 this season, including a pair of top-10 wins.
Â
• R-So. Jakob Camacho - #6 seed at 125 pounds
After making the ACC Finals for the second straight year, Camacho enters his first NCAAs as the No. 6 seed at 125 pounds. He is 8-2 this year, with six bonus point wins.
Â
• R-Sr. Daniel Bullard - #8 seed at 174 pounds
Another first-time ACC Champion in 2021, Bullard gets the eighth seed at 174 pounds. He is 8-1 this season, having won his last seven bouts, with two ranked wins. This will be Bullard's third trip to the NCAAs, he has gone 1-2 each of the previous two times.
Â
• Jr. Deonte Wilson - #10 seed at 285pounds
The Pack's fifth ACC Champion from this year, Wilson gets the No. 10 seed at heavyweight. He comes in with an undefeated record of 9-0 this season, and has only conceded one takedown all year.
Â
• R-So. Jarrett Trombley - #12 at 133 pounds
Also making his first NCAA Championships appearance, Trombley enters as the No. 12 seed at 133 pounds. He is 8-4 this year, with a ranked win coming at the ACC Championship last time out.
Â
• R-Sr. Thomas Bullard - #17 at 165 pounds
Bullard will be making his third trip to the NCAAs, and is seeded 17th at 165 pounds. At 4-5 on the year, a top-10 win at the ACC Championships nabbed Bullard third place and an automatic bid. Back in 2019, Bullard won one bout as the 16th seed.
Â
• R-Sr. Nick Reenan - #28 at 197 pounds
Returning to the NCAAs also for this third time, and his third different weight class, Reenan is the 28th seed at 197 pounds. He is 7-3 this year, and received an at-large bid. In 2019 at 184, Reenan recorded a pin in the consolation bracket after entering as the seventh seed.
