Luca Tresh Named To Buster Posey Award Watch List

WICHITA, Kan. – NC State baseball's Luca Tresh has been named to the 2021 Buster Posey Award Watch List, as announced by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.
The award is given annually to the top division one collegiate catcher, and Tresh is one of 69 players who were named to the initial watch list. He was also named a DI Baseball Preseason All-American and Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List nominee earlier this year.
This is the third-consecutive year the program has had a player named to the list, as Patrick Bailey was featured in 2019 and '20.
So far this season, Tresh leads the ACC in home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.950) and owns a team-best .400 batting average with 16 hits and 15 runs batted in. Defensively, he has thrown out 33 percent of baserunners attempting to swipe a bag and has compiled a .980 fielding percentage in his 10 games started behind the plate.
The list of semifinalists will be announced May 20, and then will be narrowed down to three finalists June 7. The winner will be announced at a date that is yet to be determined in Wichita.
