
NC State to Host Temple, North Carolina in Tri-Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team continues action Saturday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum. The team is set to host North Carolina for the second time in 2021 and Temple for the first time this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The squad tabbed its highest score of the season, 196.125, in a quad meet with George Washington, Oklahoma and William & Mary. It compiled a 49.125 on bars that was good for a season-best mark.
Sophomore Emily Shepard tallied a career-high 39.450 in the all-around, a score that tied her for the 13th-best all-around score in program history. Shepard recorded a 9.900 on both vault and floor in addition to a 9.875 on bars and a 9.775 on beam. She earned the all-around title and tied for vault individual title while also tying for second place on bars with teammate Katie Cox.
Shepard's performance at the meet were good to earn the sophomore her third EAGL Gymnast of the Week honors of the season.
Freshman Madison Benson tied her career best on vault with a 9.800 and followed up the mark a 9.825 on floor that improved her career high. Senior Katie Cox tied her career-high score on bars with a 9.875 that tied her with Shepard for second place.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina sits at second in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL), just behind the Wolfpack. Tar Heels sophomore Elizabeth Culton checks into the Road To Nationals individual beam rankings at No. 2, averaging a 9.935 on the apparatus.Â
The Tar Heels come off a two-meet weekend, posting a 195.000 at Towson with LIU and Pittsburgh on Feb. 19 as well as a 195.250 at Temple on Feb. 21.                                         Â
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Freshman Brooke Donabedian earned her second EAGL Rookie of the Week laurels of 2021 in week six after a solid performance in Temple's dual meet with North Carolina. Donabedian tied her 9.825 career best on beam and set a career high of 9.875 on floor.
Temple posted its best score of the season at its meet with North Carolina, compiling a 195.100.
