
Rifle Set for NCAA Qualifiers

RALEIGH – The 12th-ranked NC State Rifle team is set to compete in the NCAA Qualifiers this weekend in Annapolis, Md. The Qualifiers serve as 50% of a teams NCAA Qualifying score, with the other half coming from an average of the team's top three scores. The top eight teams qualify for the NCAA Championships. NC State currently sits in 12th.
The NCAA Qualifier also serves as an opportunity for individual competitors to qualify to the Championship, with the selections coming strictly off this weekends performance.
NC State has had several strong outings this spring, most recently posting a 4653 last week against Akron. The Wolfpack have scored above a 4650 in seven of the team's nine competitions this season. Travis Stockton posted a team-high 1167 aggregate score last weekend, including a 594 in air rifle where he has been extremely consistent for the Pack this spring. Makenzie Sheffield recorded a personal-best against the Zips with a 587 in smallbore, which tied for the seventh-best mark in program history.
