
#12 Pack Earns Dominant 6-1 Victory Over #21 Tennessee

RALEIGH – NC State women's tennis came away with the win in its third top-25 matchup of the season on Saturday afternoon as the 12th-ranked Wolfpack (5-1) defeated No. 21 Tennessee (5-2) 6-1 inside the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Pack remained a perfect 3-0 in matches against ranked opponents this season and extended its current dual winning streak to four contests.

The doubles point came down to the final court, but the Wolfpack once again came out on top and picked up victories on courts one and two. Anna Rogers and Alana Smith went up a break to start the match on their way to cruising to the 6-2 decision over Tenika McGiffin and Eleonora Molinaro.
The Volunteers came away with the 6-3 win on court three to put the doubles decision on court two. Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami emerged victorious in their matchup with Tennessee's Esther Adeshina and Daria Kuczer. They fought off a late surge from the Vols duo and won the last two games of the match to put the final score at 6-4.
In singles action, NC State looked solid across the board.
No. 23 Smith bounced back with a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 118 Carly Briggs of Tennessee, and No. 35 Rogers boosted her season singles record to 10-0 with a a 6-3, 6-3 win over Molinaro.
With the team score at 3-0 in favor of the Pack, it was a race between Reami and Daniel to earn the clincher. No. 38 Reami was the first to close out her match, as she gutted out a long rally with No. 52 Rebeka Mertena to win 6-4, 6-4.
Daniel followed closely behind with a 6-4, 6-4 win over her own over McGiffin.
Lexi Keberle rounded out an unbeaten weekend with a ranked win over No. 85 Johanna Silva, beating her 6-2, 6-2.
Tennessee picked up its one victory of the day on court six to end the afternoon.
NC State steps into league action next weekend for the first of three-straight ACC road contests. The team kicks off its ACC slate on Feb. 20 at Wake Forest, with first serve set for 2 p.m. that day.
