FORT WORTH, Texas – NC State baseball's Luca Tresh has been named to the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List, as announced by the foundation earlier this week. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and integrity.
This year's watch list consists of 48 players representing 17 conferences around the country, including all five power conferences.
It is the second-straight season a Wolfpack player has been named to the watch list, as Patrick Bailey was featured in 2020.
For Tresh, it is the second preseason accolade he has received ahead of the 2021 season, as he was named to Collegiate Baseball's Preseason All-America Third Team.
Despite missing the first six games in the shortened 2020 season, Tresh appeared in the last 11 and earned the starting nod in eight of them. He led the squad with a .405 batting average and turned in seven multi-hit and four multi-RBI performances. While finishing the year on a seven-game reached base streak, he had a career-high 4-for-5 outing vs. Coastal Carolina on March 4.
The award was created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. It started out in 2017 as an honor to the top hitter in Texas, then expanded in 2019 to a regional award covering all DI programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. In 2020, it became a national award.
The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.
