Three members of the Pack garnered All-America honors as Hannah Steelman, Kelsey Chmiel and Katelyn Tuohy posted top-25 finishes. The number tied the program best for number of All-Americans in a single season. All-America honors are awarded to individuals who place in the top 40 of the national meet races.
NC State's men charted a 23rd-place finish at the 2020 national meet, improving on their finish form 2019 by three spots. Then-senior Ian Shanklin was the first across the finish line, placing 56th individually.
PACK IN THE POLLS
NC State enters the NCAA meet as the top-ranked team nationally. The Wolfpack women have been tied for or in sole possession of the No. 1 ranking for six weeks of the 2021 season.
Regionally, both the men's and women's squads checked into the final rankings in the top five thanks to high finishes at the 2021 NCAA Southeast Regionals. The women recorded their sixth-straight regional title while the men posted a fourth-place finish.
LAST TIME OUT
The women's squad won its fifth consecutive NCAA Southeast Regional Championship, tallying 34 points for its lowest regional meet team score since at least 2000. Junior Kelsey Chmiel took the individual title at the meet, marking the first Southeast Regional crown of her career.
Chmiel was one of six All-Region honorees for NC State as she was joined in the accolades by Katelyn Tuohy, Allie Hays, Sam Bush, Heather Holt and Savannah Shaw.
