
Wolfpack Set To Face #7 Pepperdine Friday In NCAA Second Round

RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (9-8-2) is set to face No. 7 Pepperdine (16-3-1) Friday in the NCAA Second Round. The teams will meet at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee, Fla., as ACC foe Florida State will play host to the second and third rounds of the tournament.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the third all-time meeting between the Wolfpack and Waves, as the series is tied at 1-1-0. The teams last met on November 18, 2016, in the NCAA Second Round in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Pack earned a 1-0 win to advance to the NCAA Third Round for the first time since 1995.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State shut out No. 22 South Florida, 2-0, in the NCAA First Round on Sunday at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
Goals by team scoring leaders Annika Wohner and Jameese Joseph in the 24th and 51st minutes, respectively, propelled the Wolfpack to its sixth shutout victory of the year.
GUTTENBERGER NAMED TO TDS TEAM OF THE WEEK
Lulu Guttenberger was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week on Tuesday following a stellar defensive performance in the Wolfpack's victory at No. 22 South Florida on Sunday afternoon in the NCAA First Round.
She is the fourth NC State player to earn a national award from the publication this season, as she completed 92 percent of her passes (information via InStat) and won all six of her challenges against the Bulls.
NC STATE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Overall, the program is 15-13-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Thanks to its victory on Sunday, it has moved forward out of the first round 13 times, including each of the last five fall seasons.
Since 2016, it has reached the Sweet Sixteen three times (2016, '18, '19), and made a pair of NCAA Second Round appearances (2017, '21).
