
#5 NC State Hosts Kansas State Friday Night for Preseason WNIT Classic Final

RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball will round out its season-opening streak of home games on Friday night as the fifth-ranked Wolfpack (3-1) hosts Kansas State (4-0) for the final game of the Preseason WNIT Classic.
Tip-off from Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ACCNX, and radio broadcasters Andrew Sanders and Derek Jordan will also have the call on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh.

Friday night is NC State's "Pack The Pantry" game. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item in support of Feed the Pack will receive a free voucher to an upcoming women's basketball game.

NOTING THE WOLFPACK (3-1)
• NC State maintained its spot at No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll after going 3-1 in its first week of the 2021-22 season. Following its season-opening loss to the top ranked Gamecocks, the Wolfpack went 3-0 in weekend Preseason WNIT Classic action.
• Both the ACC's head coaches and blue ribbon panel selected the Wolfpack as the preseason favorite to win the league. NC State received first-place votes from all 14 of the other head coaches in the conference.
• Through four games, the Wolfpack is ranked:
3rd in the nation in threes made (36)
7th in the nation in total assists (71)
15th in the nation in three-point percentage (.444)
29th in the nation in field goal percentage (.502)

• Elissa Cunane leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game, and she has put together that number with a 50 percent clip from the field. She is ranked 13th in the league in scoring through the early stages of the season and has dished out eight assists (2.0 per game) to her teammates.
• Jakia Brown-Turner is the only player to join Cunane in averaging double figures (11.5). Six players are averaging 8.0 points or better through balanced scoring games.
• NC State has had a different scoring leader in each of its first four games, and the Pack is 3-0 in games during which it has at least three players score 10+ points.
• The Wolfpack's nine three pointers per game ranks third in the ACC, and the team is also averaging 36.5 points in the paint.
PRESEASON WNIT SNAPSHOT
• Friday's game marks the final in the 2021 Preseason WNIT Classic as both host teams face off in Raleigh after going unbeaten in the four-team pods over the weekend.
• NC State went a perfect 3-0 in its pod with wins against Wofford (90-57), Florida (85-52) and Towson (100-52). The Pack scored 85+ points three games in a row for the first time since non-conference play in 2013-14. NC State has not strung together four such games in a row since 1996-97 when it had seven-straight games with 85 or more points scored.
• Cunane and Diamond Johnson were named to the All-Tournament Team, and Cunane was named MVP following round robin play. Both players averaged double figures in three games played, with Cunane posting a season-high 18 against Florida and Johnson tallying 16 versus Towson.
• Kai Crutchfield joined them in averaging double figures in the three games, with her 10.3 points per game boosted by a 17-point game against Florida during which she went a perfect 4-of-4 from distance.
• NC State's 48-point win over Towson was its biggest margin of victory through four games this season. The team also set early season bests in points scored (100), best field-goal percentage (.559), most rebounds (54) and most steals (9) in the outing.
• NC State shot 50 percent or better from the field in all three wins while holding each team to under 35 percent shooting.
