Women’s Soccer Welcomes Syracuse Sunday In Home Finale
10/23/2021 12:10:00 PM | Women's Soccer
RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (7-7-2, 3-5-0 ACC) will wrap up its regular season home slate Sunday afternoon when it faces Syracuse (4-10-1, 0-8-0 ACC) at Dail Soccer Stadium in a 1 p.m. matchup on the ACCNX.
FREE ADMISSION
Beginning in 2021, NC State women's soccer games are free of charge. Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each match. As NC State works toward a more normal on-campus experience, NC State Athletics will continue abiding by the current policies for campus as outlined in the University Community Standards.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State suffered a 1-0 loss to Wake Forest on Thursday evening at Spry Stadium.
In what was a physical match between both squads, the Demon Deacons scored late in the first half and managed to hold onto its lead until the clock ran out.
Both NC State and Wake Forest are receiving votes for this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday will be the sixth all-time meeting between NC State and Syracuse, as the Wolfpack owns a 3-2 advantage in the series.
The Pack has won each of the last three matchups, with the most recent meeting being October 24, 2019, in Raleigh, which was a 3-2 OT victory.
NC State has outscored Syracuse, 12-5, in the last three meetings, which date back to October of 2017.
POSTSEASON LOOK AHEAD
NC State is one of eight teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference among the top 35 in the latest RPI update. The Pack earned wins over two of the top six teams on that list, No. 1 Duke and No. 6 North Carolina.
This year's ACC Championship has been reduced to a six-team tournament, but because of the league's dominance among the nation, eight to 10 teams typically earn a bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The ACC Championship begins October 31, while the NCAA Tournament Selection Show will be November 8 at 4:30 p.m., with the first round being held November 12-14.
