RALEIGH - The eighth-ranked NC State men's tennis team has released its 2021 schedule, as announced by head coach Kyle Spencer on Monday.
The Wolfpack's schedule features nine teams ranked in the Oracle/ITA Preseason Rankings as well as four teams that competed at the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Action began for the Wolfpack at the ACC Challenge Jan. 16-18 as the Wolfpack competed in a serious of doubles and singles competitions that contributed towards individual records but not the dual team record.
Dual match play begins for NC State when it hosts Alabama, No. 13 Tennessee and No. 17 Mississippi in the ITA Kickoff Jan. 22-23. On Jan. 22 Tennessee will play Mississippi while NC State is set to take on Alabama. Its second matchup of the weekend will depend on the results of Saturday's matches. If the Wolfpack wins both of its ITA Kickoff matches, it will make its second consecutive trip to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships Feb. 12-15.
Jan. 31 the squad makes the trip to Athens, Ga. to take on the Bulldogs.
February sees five home matches for NC State and begins with the Wolfpack hosting Charlotte Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. followed by an away match at Tennessee Feb. 7.
NC State begins a five-match home stretch Feb. 19 against Louisville at 4 p.m. and Feb. 21 against Notre Dame (12 p.m.). The following weekend the team hosts Virginia Feb. 26 (5 p.m.) and Virginia Tech Feb. 28 (12 p.m.).
In its first matchup of March the Wolfpack hosts Baylor (March 2 at 4 p.m.) before it travels to Boston College for a March 6 competition. Action continues March 12 as Florida State travels to Raleigh (5 p.m.). Miami and Presbyterian also make the trip to the Wolfpack's home courts in March, the Hurricanes March 13 (2 p.m.) and the Blue Hose March 16 (2 p.m.).
A three-match road stint comes at the end of March for the squad, kicking off with a March 20 tilt at South Carolina. March 26 the Wolfpack sees action at Georgia Tech before concluding the month at Clemson (March 28).
The Wolfpack kicks off April with a home non-conference matchup against North Carolina at 1 p.m. All of the team's matchups in April come against teams in North Carolina as it travels to Duke (April 9) and North Carolina (April 11) before welcoming Wake Forest to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center April 16 or 18.
Postseason play starts April 21-25 with the ACC Championships. The first two rounds of the NCAA Championship take place May 7-9 with the super regionals May 15. The finals and individual championships will occur May 20-29.
Due to current State guidelines regarding venue capacity limits, fans will not be permitted at home matches. NC State Athletics will continue to review capacity guidelines throughout the season and will communicate updates as they are available.
