RALEIGH – Kent Klyman has announced his intention to return to NC State for the 2021 baseball season.
"I'm excited to be able to come back and play another year with the Pack. It's been my home for four years, and I can't wait to do it for another. I look forward to getting back with all the guys this fall and starting to form another great bond and working towards our ultimate goal of making it to Omaha."
Following the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NCAA granted all spring athletes an additional year of eligibility.
Graduates Brad Debo, Lawson McArthur and James Ferguson have all decided to pursue other opportunities following the completion of their degrees in May 2020.
Klyman has been a mainstay of the Wolfpack's bullpen for the last four years. A two-time NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watchlist honoree, the Williamsburg, Va. native owns a 2.53 career earned-run average with 14 wins and eight saves in 77 appearances in relief.
In the shortened 2020 season, Klyman made five appearances out of the pen and compiled a 1.42 ERA. He led the pitching staff with two saves, picking both of them up on opening weekend versus James Madison. On March 8 at Virginia, he went a season-long 3.1 innings and fanned a pair of batters.
