Shipp Tied for Second; Pack Tied for Fourth at General Hackler

Senior golfer had eight birdies in two rounds on Monday
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – NC State men's golf senior Benjamin Shipp is tied for second place as he led the men's golf team to a tie for fourth place after two rounds of the General Hackler Championship held at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
The Duluth, Ga., native opened the tournament with a two-under par 70 in the first round and then had a bogey free second round, posting four birdies to shoot a 68. Shipp is in a three-way tie for second place at six-under par for the tournament.
Next for the Pack is senior Christian Salzer and junior Easton Paxton who are both tied for 39th place at three-over par. Paxton paced NC State in the opening round with a four-under par 68 while Salzer had his best round of the day in the afternoon, shooting an even-par 72.
Graduate student Brett McLamb is next for NC State in a tie for 44th place, one shot back of Paxton and Salzer. McLamb shot back-to-back rounds of 74 on Monday.
Freshman Carter Graf rounds out the NC State lineup in a tie for 66th place. The Canada native shot a two-over par 74 in his second round on Monday.
North Carolina has a five-shot lead over Wake Forest for the tournament lead. Liberty is two shots back of the Demon Deacons in third place. NC State and ETSU are tied for fourth place, four shots back of Liberty.
The third and final round is Tuesday. NC State will play with ETSU and Kent State in the final round with the pairings starting at 8:30 a.m.
