No. 9 Men's Tennis Set for Doubleheader Against No. 4 Texas, NC A&T

RALEIGH - The 9th-ranked NC State men's tennis team returns to action Sunday, March 1 as it takes on No. 4 Texas and NC A&T in a doubleheader. The Wolfpack takes on the Longhorns at 12 p.m. and will compete against the Aggies at 4 p.m. The matches will both take place at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State concluded play at the ITAÂ National Men's Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 16. The squad competed against three top-20 teams in 8th-ranked Stanford, then-No. 11 TCU and then-No. 16 UCLA.
Senior Alexis Galarneau tabbed a 7-6(5), 6-4 win over then-No. 16 Axel Geller in the Wolfpack's 4-3 loss to Stanford at ITA Indoors, his third over a ranked opponent this season.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
As a team, NC State sits at No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA rankings with an 8-3 record. The Wolfpack has claimed wins over two ranked teams, defeating then-No. 17 Michigan on Jan. 15, 4-3, as well as posting a victory over then-No. 23 Virginia at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 26, 4-1
Galarneau is at the No. 37 position in the singles rankings after posting multiple ranked wins during the season. The senior was named the UTR/ITA Division I Men's Player of the Week on Jan. 26 after defeating Virginia's Carl Soderlund, who was ranked No. 1 in the preseason Oracle/ITA rankings.
Junior Tadas Babelis is ranked No. 96 after claiming victories over two ranked singles opponents, the first coming over then-No. 94 Ondrej Styler in NC State's win over Michigan and the second win coming against then-No. 88 Kevin Zhu in NC State's victory at Penn.
In doubles, Babelis and sophomore Yannai Barkai check in at No. 17. The pair defeated the then-13th-ranked duo of Ryan Seggerman and Payton Holden in NC State's 4-1 win over Princeton.
SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
Texas competed at ITA Indoors, winning their first match over UCLA , 4-2. The Longhorns then fell to then-No. 13 Michigan, 2-4, before defeating Stanford in a 4-2 decision. The team has defeated six top-25 opponents, their most recent ranked win coming over No. 8 Stanford on Feb. 28, 4-0.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
The Aggies hold a 1-6 record and come off a 6-1 win over King University on Feb. 23. Sophomore Vasil Ivanov was named the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 26.
