RALEIGH – The NC State track and field team was in action at three meets on Friday. The distance runners, sprinters, jumpers and throwers competed at the Tiger Paw Invite, Valentine Invitational and Don Kirby Invitational. Among the three, NC State tallied nine combined ACC Indoor Championship qualifying standards and nine personal-best marks.
Distance: Nevada Mareno led the Pack women at the Valentine Invitational in the mile race with a 4:42.14 clip, setting a new personal-best. Dominique Clairmonte (4:43.41) followed close behind, also earning an ACC qualifying mark.
Sarah LaTour (4:53.77), Anna Vess (4:58.07) and Sam Bush (4:59.13) rounded out the event for NC State. LaTour's and Bush's times were PRs.
In the women's 3000m, Kelsey Chmiel (9:10.74) and Savannah Shaw (9:17.52) clocked in with top-10 times in NC State history and earned top-20 finishes overall with their marks that outran conference qualifying standards. Chmiel bested her PR in the race.
Sprints: At the Tiger Paw Invite, Cameron Murray (8.01) and Josh Brockman (8.07) both placed themselves in the 60m hurdles semifinals with marks that outpaced the ACC qualifying standard of 8.12. Murray's time registered as a new PR, and both ranked among the top five times in the NC State record books.
In the semifinal, Murray clocked in a 7.96 for 12th place, and Brockman clocked in at 8.15.
