RALEIGH – NC State Volleyball head coach Luka Slabe has completed his coaching staff with the addition of Megan Wargo-Kearney as associate head coach and Luke Murray as assistant coach. Alison Lyne will remain on staff as Director of Operations.
Wargo-Kearney joins the Pack following three seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks. She joined Arkansas in 2017 as an assistant coach before being elevated to associate head coach prior to the 2019 season. Wargo-Kearney previously spent eight seasons as an assistant at Truman State where she helped guide the Bulldogs to six NCAA Tournament appearances and two conference titles.
"I am thrilled to welcome Megan Wargo-Kearney to the Wolfpack family," said Slabe. "Megan is an outstanding leader and coach. She is also an exceptional recruiter, who recognizes NC State's unique opportunities for success. She brings experience and a proven track record of success in the collegiate game. We look forward to having her build on the great tradition of Wolfpack Volleyball."
Her development of Truman State's roster led to eight AVCA All-America accolades, a National Freshman of the Year, 33 all-conference performers, two conference Freshman of the Years and a conference Player of the Year. At Arkansas, Wargo-Kearney has helped develop four Razorback AVCA All-South Region Awards and an SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
A former student-athlete herself, Wargo-Kearney graduated from Gettysburg College where she was a three-time all-conference performer including Player of the Year honors as a senior. She led her team to three conference titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances in addition to an all-conference athlete on the softball team.
Murray joined the Wolfpack in July of 2019 where he led all scouting efforts for the team in addition to primarily working with the team's setters for the 2019 season. In 2019, Murray helped guide Nina Sharpton to 1,012 assists in her debut season. Sharpton became the first freshman in the rally-scoring era of the program to eclipse 1,000 assists in a single-season while the team ranked second in the ACC with 1,439 total assists.
"I am very happy to have Luke Murray as an essential part of our team," said Slabe. "He has a deep understanding of the game. He is a student of the game and his volleyball IQ will have an impact on our team. Luke is very familiar with our volleyball program and this Athletic Department. He will help us lead this team with his poise and competitiveness."
Prior to NC State, Murray spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Colorado State where he helped the Rams reach the NCAA Tournament all five season and finish the year in the top-25 three times. During his tenure, Colorado State compiled a 130-28 overall record including an 82-8 clip in Mountain West Conference play. Murray also helped the Rams to conference titles four out of his five seasons.
A former setter at Penn State, Murray helped lead the Nittany Lions to a National Championship while also picking up AVCA All-American honors. His 3,191 career assists rank eighth all-time in Penn State history. Following his collegiate career, Murray trained with the U.S. National Team and played professionally in Cyprus and Puerto Rico.
