
Hartl Fires Career-Low 68 In Second Round Of Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO MAR, Puerto Rico – NC State women's golf's Monika Hartl matched her career-low 18-hole score on Monday in the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic with a four-under par 68. She moved 13 spots up the player leaderboard into a two-way tie for third at 141 (-3), and is one stroke out of first place behind Virginia Tech's Alyssa Montgomery and Northwestern's Irene Kim.
The outing marks the junior's fifth time in the last six rounds that she has posted an under-par score, dating back to Oct. 27, 2019 at the Landfall Tradition.
As a team, the Wolfpack shot a 291 (+3) at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico, matching its season low 18-hole score for the third time this competition year. Thanks to shaving 10 strokes off of Sunday's round, the squad moved up one spot up the leaderboard to eighth out of 15 teams with a 592 (+16).
Texas Tech (579, +3) took over the top spot of the team standings, while No. 14 Oklahoma State (581, +5) and No. 22 Virginia Tech (583, +7) remain in the top three.
Inja Fric is hunting for the best finish of her career as she remains in the top 25 of the individual standings. She turned in a three-over par 75 to sit in a tie for 24th with a 36-hole score of 148 (+4).
Mim Sangkapong shaved six strokes off of her round one score, carding a 72 (E) on Monday, to jump 21 spots up the leaderboard to T38th with a 150 total. Lea Klimentova additionally improved her standing on Monday with a four-over par 76 to move into a tie for 55th with a 153 (+9), while Natalie Armbruester rounded out the lineup with an 80 (+8) for a two-day score of 160 (+16).
Pilar Berchot, who is competing as an individual this week, carded a four-over par 76 on Monday to improve her position on the leaderboard.
The Pack will conclude its showing at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Tuesday in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
