Pack Sweeps Virginia Tech for Third-Straight Win

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State was firing on all cylinders as a team Thursday evening as the Wolfpack swept Virginia Tech, 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-14), inside Reynolds Coliseum to win its third-straight match this season.
Jade Parchment and Melissa Evans tied for a match-high with 16 kills each. The pair of attackers had a .469 and .289 hitting percentages, respectively. Parchment also added seven digs and two blocks for NC State (3-4) while Evans contributed eight digs and two blocks herself. It was the fifth-straight match with double-digit kills for both Parchment and Evans.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It took extra points to decide the winner of a tightly contested opening set, before NC State finally pieced together back-to-back points on a kill by Evans and service ace from Pam Chukwujekwu.
The momentum carried to set two for NC State as the Wolfpack opened up with a 6-0 lead. The two teams traded back-and-forth five-straight blocks as NC State held onto the 10-7 lead. Evans had three kills down the stretch, before the Pack ended the set on back-to-back attacks by Lydia Adam. As a team, NC State had five blocks in the second set, including three by Riley Shaak.
The Pack made quick work of Tech in the third set, thanks to a 10-0 run behind the serve of Kristen McDaniel. The run included three kills from Evans before Virginia Tech eventually got a badly needed point by Angel Robinson. Parchment set up match point, 24-12, with her 16th kill of the night before the Hokies gave themselves life on back-to-back kills. Shaak closed out the night with her only kill of the match at a crucial time to clinch the Wolfpack's third-consecutive win.

OF NOTE
- Thursday marked the first time all season Virginia Tech has been swept, and the first sweep for NC State over an ACC opponent since Oct. 13, 2019 against Miami.
- Tonight's win made it six-consecutive victories over the Hokies. Virginia Tech still leads the all-time series 21-16.
- Savannah Bryant led the Pack with a career-high 15 digs.
- Kristen McDaniel had her fifth double-double, with 32 assists and 10 digs.
- Parchment is now three kills shy of entering the NC State rally scoring era top-10 career kill list. She sits at 694.
- With just one hitting error, Thursday was the third match of the season for Parchment with a hitting percentage over .300. Her .469 was a season-high.
