Wolfpack Comes Up Short to Visiting Navy, 2-1

RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team (0-4-0) narrowly fell to visiting Navy on Sunday evening, as the Midshipmen (1-0-0) came away with the 2-1 decision inside Dail Soccer Stadium.
NC State took an early 1-0 lead on a Kuda Muskwe penalty kick. The Midshipmen then answered with a pair of goals in the span of just over two minutes to take the 2-1 lead before halftime. Despite the Wolfpack controlling the final 45 minutes of action, that score stood for the entirety of the second half.
Muskwe scored his first goal of the season and the sixth of his career to put the Pack up in the 29th minute. Teammate Ivy Brisma was tripped up in the box, and Muskwe converted on the ensuing penalty kick with an easy ball to the lower right corner.

Navy answered in the 37th minute when Matt Nocita headed one in off a corner kick. The Midshipmen then drew a penalty kick of their own in the 39th minute, with Wolfpack goalkeeper Leon Krapf making the initial save on the shot before Jacob Williams finished on his own rebound.
Muskwe came close to retying the score in the 43rd minute. He managed to stay onsides to receive a great ball from Pablo Pedregosa, but his shot went off the left goalpost. The Wolfpack also created a pair of second-half chances by Pedregosa (64') and Alex Bautista (87') but was unable to come up with the equalizer.
NC State will close out its three-game home stretch on Friday, Oct. 23 as it hosts Clemson. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and the Tigers is set for 8 p.m., and the match will be televised nationally on the ACC Network.
