RALEIGH - Junior Patrick Bailey of the NC State baseball team collected his third preseason honor upon the 2020 campaign, as he was recently named to DI Baseball's Preseason All-America First Team.
Â
He was also featured on Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game's lists ahead of the season. Bailey has been named one of the top 50 prospects for the 2020 MLB Draft by MLB Pipeline.
Â
The Wolfpack also recently earned preseason recognition from the publication, as it checked in at No. 16 on DI Baseball's Preseason Top 25 Poll.
Â
Last year, the Greensboro, N.C. native started 60 games behind the plate, compiling a .288 clip with 68 hits, 17 doubles, 10 homers and a .513 slugging percentage. Defensively, he committed just five errors in 476 chances for a .989 fielding percentage and threw out 33 percent of base runners attempting to swipe a bag.
Â
Thanks to a strong 2019 campaign, he was named a Buster Posey Award Semifinalist, awarded to the top collegiate catcher of the year, and spent the summer with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. Additionally, he was an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region, First Team All-ACC selection and Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American.
Â
The Pack opens the 2020 season Feb. 14 against James Madison, with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. at Doak Field at Dail Park.
Â
2020 NC State baseball season tickets are SOLD OUT. Bojangles mini packs and single game tickets are now on sale to the public.
