Independence, Minn. – The NC State men's golf team completed the first two rounds of its 2019-20 season in rainy and dreary conditions on Sunday at the Gopher Invitational held at the Windsong Farm Golf Club.
The Pack sits in 12th place after two rounds of play. The third and final round is scheduled for Monday.
Junior Easton Paxton led the Pack on Sunday. The Riverton, Wyo., native opened with a two-over par 73 and shot an even-par 71 – the best round by an NC State player on the first day – in the second round to close the day in 28th place.
Making his NC State debut, freshman Spencer Oxendine is one shot back of Paxton in a tie for 31st place.
Fellow true freshman Max Steinlechner is in a tie for 46th place after firing rounds of 73 and 75 on Sunday.
Senior Christian Salzer is one shot back of Steinlechner in a tie for 54th place after rounds of 76 and 73.
Senior Benjamin Shipp rounds out the NC State lineup in a tie for 64th place. The Duluth, Ga., native shot a 77 and 75.
