King’s Hat Trick Leads Women’s Soccer To 3-1 Win Over Furman

RALEIGH – Tziarra King of the NC State women's soccer team scored her second career hat trick on Sunday afternoon, leading the squad to a 3-1 win over Furman at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
The Wolfpack improves to 4-3-0 on the year while the Paladins move to 5-3-0.
King now owns 40 goals in her Wolfpack career, which moves her to fifth all-time in the category. She has also tallied 94 career points to jump to seventh all-time in program history.
Her other hat trick was on Oct. 29, 2017 versus then-No. 24 Notre Dame in the ACC Championship First Round at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Ricci Walkling additionally hit a milestone with her 20th career assist in the match, which is tied for the ninth most in the record books.
Furman's Erin Houlihan put the Paladins on the board in the 15th minute with a low strike to the far right post off of a Caitlyn Reilly assist.
Two minutes later, Tziarra King netted the equalizer for her third goal of the season with a low strike inside the box to the near left post thanks to Krissi Schuster's pass from the left wing.
King quickly put away the go-ahead goal in the 18th minute after capitalizing on the rebound off of Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver. Weaver attempted to save one of King's shots from close range after she connected with Walkling. It was her 13th career game-winning goal.
In the 50th minute, Toni Starova was brought down in the box and King converted the penalty kick for her third goal of the match.
NC State outshot the Paladins 13-7, putting eight on goal, and won two corner kicks.
The Pack returns to action Wednesday when it closes out nonconference play at East Carolina. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Johnson Stadium in Greenville, N.C., and it will be streamed on ECUPirates.com. The match will begin a four-game road swing for the Red and White.
