
Pack in tie for 10th after First Round of Maui Jim Intercollegiate

CAREFREE, Ariz. – The NC State men's golf team shot a team score of one-under par in the first round Friday of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate played at the Mirabel Golf Club.
The Pack is in a tie with LSU and Minnesota for 10th place after one round. Arizona State leads the field at 18-under par, while Clemson is in second three shots back of the Sun Devils and Arizona is in third, three shots back of the Tigers.
Christian Salzer led the Pack with a two-under par 68 in the first round. The senior was sitting at one-over par for the day after 14 holes, but birdies on 15 and 16 and an eagle on 17 took him to three-under. A bogey on the final hole pushed him back to two-under.
Salzer is in a tie for 20th place out of 75 golfers.
Spencer Oxendine and Benjamin Shipp are next for the Pack with both players shooting a one-under par 69 in the first round. Oxendine had four bidies in the first round, while Shipp had five. The duo is in a tie for 30th place.
Freshman Max Steinlechner is next for the Pack at three-over par to sit in a tie for 64th place.
Junior Easton Paxton rounds out the Pack lineup in 74th place with a score of six-over par.
At nearby Desert Forest Golf Club, Carter Graf and Brett McLamb both made their NC State debuts.
Graf, a freshman from Canada, shot a three-under par 69 on the par-72 golf course to sit in second place out of 35 golfers in the individual event.
McLamb, a grad transfer from Campbell, shot a one-under par 71 and is in a tie for fifth place.
