RALEIGH – NC State baseball announced its two fall scrimmages on Monday. The Wolfpack will host South Carolina on Sun., Sept. 29, at Doak Field at Dail Park with first pitch set for 3 p.m., then travel to UNCW on Sun., Oct. 6, for a 12 p.m. contest.
Starting in the fall of 2018, the NCAA allowed Division I baseball teams to play two fall scrimmages against outside opponents without counting against the 56-game spring schedule.
Admission is FREE for both fall scrimmages.
Last season NC State faced both squads in the regular season. The Wolfpack and Gamecocks met on April 2 at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, N.C., and South Carolina won 10-8 on a walk-off home run. NC State and UNCW played a home-and-home series in the spring, as the Pack defeated the Seahawks, 14-7, on April 16 in Wilmington, N.C., and 11-3 on April 30 in Raleigh.
South Carolina finished 28-28 last season, and fell to LSU in the opening round of the SEC Tournament. UNCW won the CAA Championship to earn an automatic NCAA Tournament bid and went 32-31 on the year.
NC State, who remained nationally ranked the entire season, finished 42-19 and earned its ninth NCAA Regional bid in the last 10 years (Greenville, N.C.). It was the second consecutive year and 10th time under head coach Elliott Avent that the program has posted 40+ wins in a single season.
2020 season tickets are now on sale and can be found at GoPack.com/BuyTickets. In addition to purchasing season tickets online, Wolfpack fans can call the NC State Athletics Ticket Office at 919-865-1510.
