Chapman Captures Bronze at 2019 U20 Pan Am Championships

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Wolfpack track and field athlete Timara Chapman claimed the bronze medal in the women's heptathlon at the 2019 U20 Pan Am Championships on Sunday while competing for Team USA. Teammate Jamar Davis also earned a top-10 finish in the men's triple jump.
Chapman, a two-time All-ACC performer, finished with 5,060 points, behind only Anna Hall (USA - 5,847 pts.) and Mary Adela Patterson (Cuba - 5,420 pts.).
The Raleigh native closed out competition with a third place-finish in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:24.99 to secure a place on the podium at the championships.
The 2019 ACC Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year entered Sunday in third place with three events remaining (long jump, javelin throw, 800m) in heptathlon competition.
Jamar Davis jumped his way to an eighth-place finish in the men's triple jump with a 15.47m mark while representing the United States.
