Chapman in Third Place After First Day of Heptathlon Competition at 2019 U20 Pan Am Championships

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Wolfpack track and field athlete Timara Chapman, competing for Team USA, stands in third place in the heptathlon with 3,075 pts. through four events at the 2019 U20 Pan Am Championships. Chapman posted top-four marks in the 100m dash, high jump, and 200m dash on Saturday evening.
Heptathlon competition concludes tomorrow with long jump, javelin throw, and the 800m.
The rising sophomore qualified for the championships in late June with a strong second-day performance at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, Fla. She was outside of qualification position before finishing incredibly strong down the stretch, earning a first-place result in the long jump and second-place marks javelin throw and the 800m to claim second place overall with 5,383 points.

100m - 14.74, fourth place
High Jump - 1.67m, third place
Shot Put - 10.28m, seventh place
200m - 25.59, third place
Rising sophomore Jamar Davis will also represent Team USA on Sunday in the triple jump.
