
Chapman, Davis Set to Compete at 2019 Pan Am U20 Championships in Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- NC State will be represented by Timara Chapman and Jamar Davis as they compete for Team USA at the 2019 Pan Am U20 Championships July 18-21 in Costa Rica, while jumps coach Chris Coleman serves on the USATF men's coaching staff.

Chapman will compete in heptathlon competition Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21, and Davis will compete in the men's triple jump final on Sunday, July 21.

Chapman qualified for the Pan Am U20 Championships in late June with her strong heptathlon performance at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, Fla. She was outside of qualification position before finishing incredibly strong down the stretch, earning a first-place result in the long jump and second-place marks in the javelin throw and 800m to claim second place overall with 5,383 points.

The school record holder in the heptathlon with 5,412 pts., she had an impressive freshman campaign that included the ACC Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year award and all-conference performances in the pentathlon and heptathlon in the indoor and outdoor seasons.

A 3x All-ACC performer (triple jump/long jump) and 1x All-American (triple jump), Davis will be competing in the triple jump for the United States in Costa Rica.

The rising sophomore ended his 2019 outdoor campaign with top-10 marks in school history in triple jump (51'5") and long jump (24'11.75").

Davis was the only freshman to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in triple jump this season.
