
NC State Sprinters Compete on First Day at NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – The NC State track and field team competed in the men's 100m dash and men's 4x100m relay semifinals on the first day at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Junior Cravont Charleston notched a top-15 finish in the 100m dash to highlight the Pack's first day at the meet.
Charleston earned Seoncd Team All-America status with his 14th-place finish in the men's 100m dash semifinal. He is the first Pack sprinter to earn men's 100m dash All-America honors since Alvis Whitted in 1996. Clocking in at 10.13 (wind-aided), the junior concludes his 2019 campaign with three top-five finishes in the 100m dash, including claiming the event title at the Virginia Challenge. His wind-aided mark is second-fastest in school history.
The NC State men's 4x100m relay team advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after crossing the finish line in 39.17 at the NCAA East Preliminary, a season-best mark for the Pack, which stands tied for No. 6 in the NC State record books. The team captured men's 4x100m relay titles this season at the Raleigh Relays and Virginia Challenge.
NC State did not qualify for Friday's 4x100m relay final.
