Franken and Shipp Earn All-ACC Recognition

First-time NC State has had multiple members on All-ACC team since 2011
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men's golf team members Stephen Franken and Benjamin Shipp were named to the 2019 All-ACC men's golf team on Wednesday as announced by the conference office.
It marks the first time since 2011 that NC State has had multiple members on the All-ACC team.
The 2019 honor marks the third consecutive season Franken has been on the All-ACC team. This season, Franken has six top-10 finishes, four top-five performances and one victory in 11 tournaments.
The Raleigh native leads the team with a stroke average of 70.78 per round which currently ranks as the fourth-lowest stroke average in program history. He is also closing in on becoming the first player in program history to lead the Pack in stroke average in four consecutive seasons.
Franken captured the Stitch Intercollegiate in April for this second career collegiate victory.
Franken is the sixth golfer in NC State history to earn All-ACC regonition three times joining Albin Choi (2011-12-13), Matt Hill (2008-09-10), Tim Clark (1996-97-98), Mark Slawter (1993-94-96) and Kelly Mitchum (1991-92-93).
Shipp earned All-ACC honors for the first time after averaging a stroke average of 71.19 per round.
The Duluth, Ga., native captured two tournament titles this season and finished with four top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes in 11 tournaments.
Shipp captured the Wolfpack Intercollegiate back in October and won the Puerto Rico Classic in February.
Franken, Shipp and the rest of the men's golf team earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Championships and will begin play Monday the Stanford Regional in Palo Alto, Calif.
