Avent, Wilson Pick Up Midseason Awards

NC State baseball head coach Elliott Avent and junior shortstop Will Wilson recently picked up midseason awards from DI Baseball and Perfect Game.

Avent, who is in his 23rd season at the helm of the top-ranked Wolfpack, was named one of DI Baseball's midseason top coaches, while Wilson garnered midseason All-America honors by D1 Baseball and Perfect Game.

Avent has guided his club to a 28-3 overall record, highlighted by a hot 19-0 start to be one of the last two unbeaten teams in the country. The Wolfpack owns the most wins in the nation and Atlantic Coast Conference (11-2 ACC record) and has come from behind 13 times this year to win a game.

Wilson, who owns a team-best .348 batting average, currently ranks in the top 25 nationally in hits (46), homers (9) and runs batted in (38). He's earned the starting nod at shortstop in every game this season and has contributed to the Pack's nation-leading .984 fielding percentage.
