
Softball Set For Charleston Invitational This Weekend

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (11-7) is set for its final weekend of nonconference action when it travels to the Charleston Invitational at the Patriots Point Complex. The Wolfpack will face Bryant (0-9), Marist (3-3), Rhode Island (2-8) and Youngstown State (0-7) along with host College of Charleston (9-9) for a total of five games Friday through Sunday.
Live stats will be available for all five games, and the Pack's contest against the Cougars will be live streamed.

Nordberg, Wallace Garner Player Of The Week Honors
After playing vital roles in the team's six wins last week, Brigette Nordberg and Devin Wallace garnered player of the week honors on Tuesday. Nordberg was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA DI Co-Player of the Week and Wallace was tabbed College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week.
Nordberg was the first player to earn a weekly honor from the NFCA since Abbie Sims on April 22, 2007, and the first to garner a weekly national honor since March 3, 2016, when Molly Hutchison was named USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week. She batted .750 on the week with 12 hits, 13 runs, 19 RBI and 37 total bases, and compiled a 2.323 slugging percentage and .826 on-base percentage.
Wallace made four starts last week for NC State, going the distance in three of the games. She threw her first shutout of the year on March 2 in NC State's 8-0 (5) win against Campbell, not allowing a walk while striking out a season-high seven batters. She also fanned seven on March 1 in the team's 4-1 win over Kansas. Wallace gave up two earned runs in 19 innings pitched for a .74 earned-run average and struck out a combined 23 batters.
Getting On Base
Logan Morris, Nordberg and Sam Russ all extended their reached base safely streaks in the team's last time out (a 4-0 loss to Valparaiso on Tuesday at home). Morris has reached safely on a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in the Pack's last 12 games, while Nordberg has reached base in the last 11 and Russ owns a 10-game streak.
Nordberg additionally extended her hit streak to eight straight games and Morris has tallied at last one base hit in the last four games.

NC State continues to rank among the top five in the NCAA in home runs and homers per game. The Pack ranks third nationally with 1.67 homers per game and fourth with 30 total home runs.
Nordberg still tops the NCAA with .61 homers per game, while her 11 home runs is the third-most by a player this year.

When scoring four or more runs in a game, NC State owns a 9-0 record. Likewise, the team is 10-0 when limiting opponents to two or less runs in a contest.
Scouting The Competition
-NC State has faced Bryant, College of Charleston, Marist and Rhode Island at least once before, while Sunday will be its first-ever meeting with Youngstown State.
