Wolfpack Hosts Valparaiso Tuesday

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (11-6) will look to continue its eight-game win streak Tuesday when it hosts Valparaiso (5-8) at Dail Stadium in its first home midweek contest of the season. First pitch is 12 p.m. and will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
Tuesday will be the first-ever meeting between the Wolfpack and Crusaders.
Last Time Out
NC State went 4-0 in the NC State Invitational, picking up a pair of run-rule wins over Campbell as well as victories against Kansas and Charleston Southern.
Hitting Our Stride
The Pack is on an eight-game win streak, which is the longest since April 21-May 7, 2015, when it held a nine-game streak. NC State has run-ruled its opponents in five of the last seven outings, and earned a shutout win on two separate occasions.
Additionally, NC State has outscored its opponents, 60-7, through its last eight contests, and has limited teams to two or less runs per game.

Of the 27 runs scored in the NC State Invitational, 18 of them were off of home runs. The Pack hit a combined 11 homers last weekend and has belted 30 this season. NC State currently leads the NCAA in home runs per game (1.76) and ranks fourth in home runs.

Brigette Nordberg's team and conference-leading 11 home runs currently ranks second in the NCAA, as eight of them have come in the last six games. She additionally leads the nation in home runs per game (.65).

Since Feb. 15, Logan Morris has reached base safely on a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in every game, accumulating an 11-game streak.
Nordberg currently owns a 10-game reached base safely streak and a seven-game hit streak, while Sam Russ extended her reached base streak to nine in the team's last time out.
Scouting Valparaiso
Three of Valpo's five wins this season came from its last time out at Charlotte's Green and White Invitational. The Crusaders defeated College of Charleston (5-2), Charlotte (8-0) and Wagner (13-0).
Jaina Westphal leads the team with a .324 batting average and two home runs, while Carly Trepanier owns a team-best 13 hits and 10 runs. The team is batting .251 on the season, averaging 6.15 hits and five runs per game.
Kelsie Packard (4-3) leads the pitching staff with a 2.93 earned-run average in 43.0 innings pitched. She thrown three shutouts and five complete games in her 10 appearances. The team owns a 4.43 ERA, averaging 5.76 strikeouts and allowing 4.61 runs per game.
