BRIGHTON, Mass. – The NC State softball team (17-15, 0-7 ACC) dropped a heartbreaker on Friday evening against Boston College (11-17, 3-4 ACC) at Harrington Athletics Village. The Wolfpack held a two-run lead heading into the final half inning of the contest, but the Eagles plated three runs to take game one of the series with a 4-3 walk-off win.
Of Note
-Randi Farricker (single, home run) belted her fourth homer and the team's 38th of the season, driving in all three of the Pack's runs in the contest.
-Five other players tallied a base hit in the game.
-Devin Wallace had a strong outing in the circle, as she had a no-hitter going until the seventh inning. She gave up two singles before Sydney Nester (8-4) relieved her and was charged with the loss after giving up the walk-off run.
How It Happened
-BC scored a run in the third on Kennedy Labshere's groundout to short after Maddison Hamilton led off with a walk, and a passed ball followed by a wild pitch moved her to third.
-The Wolfpack countered in the fourth thanks to Farricker's three-run homer to right field. Brigette Nordberg singled through the left side and Skylar Johnston drew a one-out walk to start the inning.
-A pair of base hits and walk loaded the bases with no outs for Boston College in the bottom of the seventh, and a 2-RBI double by Allyson Moore to left center knotted the game.
-A walk-off RBI fielder's choice allowed the Eagles to come out on top.
