Softball To Host UNCW Wednesday Evening

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (16-14) returns home Wednesday for a midweek matchup with UNCW (20-13) at Dail Stadium. First pitch is 6 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.

Series History
Wednesday marks the ninth all-time meeting between the teams, as the overall series is tied at four.
The teams last met on Feb. 28, 2018, in Wilmington, N.C., and the Wolfpack earned a 4-2 win.
NC State has won three of the last four contests with the Seahawks.

The Wolfpack traveled to conference foe No. 3 Florida State last weekend for a three-game series and suffered a sweep.

Over the weekend Sam Russ extended her reached base safely streak to 22 consecutive games, which is the second-longest streak in program history. Former standout Renada Davis owns the school record with a 32-game streak in 2015.

In Saturday's game in Tallahassee, Fla., Brigette Nordberg hit her 13th home run of the season, which was the team's 36th of the year.
Nordberg continues to lead the Atlantic Coast Conference in home runs, while her mark ranks eighth in the NCAA.
The Pack has already matched the total number of home runs from the 2018 season through just 30 games, and that mark ranks 10th all-time in the record books. The 2019 squad is just three homers away from matching the total from 2017, and four from ranking eighth all-time in school history.
Scouting UNCW
The Seahawks are coming off of a series win over Towson last weekend thanks to its pair of wins on Saturday. The Tigers avoided the sweep with an 8-1 victory on Sunday, snapping a six-game win streak for UNCW.
At the plate, Carson Shaner leads the squad with a .350 batting average and six homers, while Jada Santiago paces the team with 31 hits, 14 runs and six doubles. As a team, the Seahawks are batting .258 while averaging 6.66 hits and 4.78 runs per game.
In the circle, Haley Lendeman owns a team-best 1.70 earned-run average with seven wins in 70 innings pitched, while Rylee Pate (2.45 ERA) leads the staff with 14 starts and a 9-5 record in 85.2 innings of work this season. The staff has compiled a combined 3.08 ERA and is averaging 4.21 strikeouts per game.

NC State will travel to Boston College for its third ACC series of the season. The teams will play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
